Years of research from some of the nation's top dairy organizations, such as the National Dairy Council, demonstrate benefits of milk consumption. Many recent studies highlight the benefits of milk and other dairy products:
* Weight control: help change metabolism to burn fat
* Bone health: Achieve and maintain bone mass and prevent osteoporosis
* Dental health: protect against dental caries
The National Dairy Council currently links dairy consumption to other important health benefits, such as the prevention of heart disease, diabetes, and even certain types of cancer (see the National Dairy Council web site for more information).
Additional research further demonstrates the special benefits available from organic milk products, particularly when dairy cows are given access to open pasture. Major studies, such as a project at the University of Newcastle Danish Institute of Agricultural Research, reveal additional qualities yielded from organically produced dairy products:
* 50% higher in Vitamin E
* 75% higher in beta carotene
* two to three times higher in important antioxidants that help protect from free radicals
* high levels of omega 3 essential fatty acids important in combating coronary disease
